HotScan

HotScan is an iconPCR feature that raises the fluorescence scan temperature of the extension step to 84 °C during AutoNorm monitoring.

What is HotScan?

The extension step normally reads at 68-72 °C, where primer dimers and other short non-specific products still fluoresce and add noise. Scanning above their melting temperature removes that signal, cutting baseline variability so the true amplification curve is easier to detect.
