Sr. Product/Systems Engineer

We are a rapidly growing biotech startup based in Pleasanton CA with the mission to develop next-generation sample preparation tools for genomic applications. We are at an inflection point in bringing this technology to market and we are seeking to expand our engineering team with a Sr. Product/Systems Engineer. As a systems engineer, the successful candidate will:

  • Work with a wider engineering and manufacturing teams to drive design and manufacturing product improvements in both existing and future products.
  • Utilize data analysis and first principles insights to solve problems with lab work and onsite investigations as needed
  • Troubleshoot and root cause hardware, software and firmware issues and drive solutions

Education

  • MSc or PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics.
  • 3+ years experience in biotech, biomedical, semiconductor or similar industries

Minimum experience requirements

  • Experience with product engineering, reliability engineering, failure analysis, systems test engineering
  • Experience using Linux based operating systems, Python, and C/C++ or equivalent
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition, applied to firmware/software/hardware of connected systems. Thermal, structural and model-based simulation experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with hands on experience debugging complex systems
  • Demonstrated data analytics and analysis skills
  • Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical diagrams
  • Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous tasks and challenges

  • A track record of a self-starter who can work collaboratively within a cross-functional team with successful product deliveries.
  • Able to comprehend complex data and use it to tackle issues from a system level
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of time management and meeting deadlines
