We are a rapidly growing biotech startup based in Pleasanton CA with the mission to develop next-generation sample preparation tools for genomic applications. We are at an inflection point in bringing this technology to market and we are seeking to expand our engineering team with a Sr. Mechanical Engineer. As a senior mechanical engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing components and assemblies for biotech instruments. Document, procure, assemble and test assemblies to requirements. Perform mechanical analysis and communicate findings.The individual should be self-motivated, creative, proactive, and able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment, diverse technologies and lab environment. The individual will work closely with other R&D software/FW developers, scientists, product and manufacturing engineers.

Education and minimum experience requirements

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in new product development
  • In-depth experience using Solid Works.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFD and FEM-based simulation tools.
  • Understanding of automation design.
  • Understanding of requirements for designing parts for machining, casting and injection molding.

Responsibilities

  • Product Design, testing and release
  • System reliability assessment and FMEA
  • Perform thermal and structural simulations to drive product reliability improvements
  • Close collaboration with electrical, SW/FW and manufacturing teams

Knowledge,Skills, Abilities

  • A track record of a self-starter who can work collaboratively within a cross-functional team with successful product deliveries.
  • Able to comprehend complex data and use it to tackle issues from a system level.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of time management and meeting deadlines
