We are a rapidly growing biotech startup based in Pleasanton CA with the mission to develop next-generation sample preparation tools for genomic applications. We are at an inflection point in bringing this technology to market and we are seeking to expand our engineering team with a Sr. Electrical Engineer. As a senior electrical engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing components and assemblies for biotech instruments. Document, procure, assemble and test assemblies to requirements. Perform troubleshooting, analysis and communicate findings. The individual should be self-motivated, creative,proactive, and able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment,diverse technologies and lab environments. The individual will work closely with other R&D software/FW developers, product,manufacturing engineers and biologists.

Education

  • MSc or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years experience in biotech, biomedical, semiconductor or similar industries

Minimum experience requirements

  • At least 3 years professional experience in PCBA Hardware Development
  • Proficient utilizing electrical CAD packages for Schematic entry and design, such as Altium or Cadence.
  • Analog & Digital circuit design, circuit analysis.
  • Experience with serial communication protocols, such as RS-232, I2C, SPI, USB
  • Prototyping electrical assemblies
  • Hands-on experience with testing equipments
  • Ability to debug firmware running on PCBA hardware, using logic analyzers, oscilloscope and other lab equipments
  • Firmware and/or software development experience in C designing low-level drivers such as I2C, SPI, UART etc.
  • Experience working with TI/STM32 family of microcontrollers

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical embedded systems for electro-mechanical medical devices with a cross-functional design team
  • Develop solutions that meet system design specs, utilising programmable hardware and microcontrollers interfacing analog and digital sensors, user interface display and controls, motor control, and electro-pneumatic systems control with pressure feedback
  • Hardware development, including design, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with mechanical, FW, SW and manufacturing engineers

  • A track record of a self-starter who can work collaboratively within a cross-functional team with successful product deliveries.
  • Able to comprehend complex data and use it to tackle issues from a system level.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of time management and meeting deadlines
